Licenses
This site provides information on the following licenses:
Each business, occupation, trade, merchant and manufacturer within the City is required to secure a business license, unless expressly exempted by State Statute. Each license must be displayed in a conspicuous place at the location of operations authorized by such license. A license is required for each business location and for each business at a single location. A license will not be issued until all outstanding financial obligations to the City have been paid.
A business license is not required for home occupations, or non-profit corporations authorized to do business in the State under Chapter 352 (Religious and Charitable Associations), 353 (Urban Redevelopment Corporations), or 355 (General Not-For-Profit Corporations), RSMo.
Business license applications must be completed each year and submitted with written proof of a current fire inspection and proof of current workers compensation insurance coverage.
License Year - The license year commences on July 1st of each calendar year and terminates on June 30th of the following calendar year.
Calculation of Fees - Each Merchant shall pay annually the greater of:

Excepting, hotel and motel merchant license taxes shall increase by 5% per year after 8/15/05, starting with:

Businesses commencing operation after the start of the license year must obtain a valid City business license before commencing operation. The license fee shall be prorated for the remainder of that license year.
Liquor Licenses
The City limits the number of liquor licenses issued for each licensing classification. The license year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year. The Board of Aldermen has authorized the following license classifications, number of licenses within each classification, and license fees:

A temporary liquor license must be obtained for the sale of liquor by the drink, by a church, school, civic or charitable club or organization, at a picnic, bazaar, fair or similar gathering. There is a $15.00 fee per permit.

Garage Sales and Related Sales Permits
Any person conducting a garage sale or other sales involving the offering of multiple items of personal property on residential property is required to obtain a garage sale permit from the City.
License Fee - There is a $5.00 license fee for each sale.
Times of Operation - Sales are confined to the period between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. of any day and shall not exceed one or two days over a five consecutive day period.
Restrictions - There shall be no display or sale of any property in the front yard of the premises.
No one may employ the services of an auctioneer in connection with any such sale.
Number Per Year - Not more than one such sale per calendar year may be held at the premises if occupied by the same family.
A license is required for each exhibition, show, circus, performance, athletic endeavor, game, match, exhibiton, sporting event, or event for public amusement. The license must be obtained no later than three days prior to such event.
The license fee for each event is $200 per day, unless the event has a charitable or religious purpose, in which case the fee is $1 per day.
Lawn Service Licenses
Businesses engaged in providing lawn service within the Ctiy must obtain a lawn service license. The license year begins January 1st and ends December 31st of the year of issuance. A license may be obtained by completing the lawn service application and payment of a $1 fee.
